The ITF founded on March 22, 1966 is headquartered in Vienna, Austria with its national governing bodies in 125 countries and regions.
Since its 1st ITF Taekwon-Do World Championships in 1970, it has organized 22 Taekwon-Do World Championships so far.
The ITF affiliated to the IMGC as its founding organization in 1999 when it was established and still plays a role of a core member.
The ITF aims to
- Promote the cultivation of mental and physical development in harmony through its activities
- Encourage and improve human dignity of all Taekwon-Do practitioners and demonstrate to the world, by example, mutual respect and concession through integrated mental and cultural training, ethics and moral education
- Make a positive contribution to building a more peaceful and better world through physical and mental training, despite and irrespective of political, religious, racial and ideological discrimination, under its indispensable ideals of friendship, solidarity, and mutual understanding, based on impartiality.
