Muay is a martial art that has developed in several Southeast Asian countries and regions, including Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar. Derived from Mavya in Sanskrit meaning binding together or making a unifiedbody, Muay means a “martial art of eight parts of the body” or “technique ofeight body parts”. It is a method of hitting opponents with fists, kicking and striking with elbow and knee by using eight (contact points) against “two points of contact” in boxing and “four contact points” (hands and feet) used in other fighting events. As a martial art with correct and sharp techniques and methods and very good movements, Muay has been developed since ancient times in Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.
