Judo is a martial art of controlling an opponent with bare hands. Created by Jigoro Kano, it is the first Japanese martial art to be recognized by the world and also the first Olympic event of Japan. The modern Japanese martial art, Judo, meaning a "gentleman way", is a fighting sport made in Japan in the 19th century. The most important feature of Judo is the competitive element that the player throws the opponent out of either side of the circle or hold him or her back, or suppresses him or her by grasping, or by wrenching joints or squeezing the throat. Hit and push by hands and feet are part of the sport as a means of defense.
